Christmas Wish List

i am one of those people that love to give. not just at christmas but all year around! i have been ordering my husband christmas gifts for months now and they have been wrapped up for a while. we have not gotten our tree yet, mainly bc it is 70 degrees outside and it really does not put this ga girl in the mood for tree shopping, but the other reason is we leave on the 14th which is next saturday and we will be gone on our mission trip. this year, however i have a wish list. the main thing is a dutch oven. i have hit another one of my house wife phases and have been buying cookbooks and dreaming up recipes in my little head all day at work. last week i bought this cook book called The Little Paris Kitchen – Rachel Khoo — i flipped through the pages at work dreaming of making all these wonderful things i cannot even pronounce. i even thought about learning french. so lets get to it!

#1- Dutch Oven- why? bc it is amazing for everything from soup to bread.

#2 Doughnut Pan- Why? bc i need one= i have been seeing all these recipes for cute and healthy doughnuts- yes healthy and i want a pan super bad. you can see my “sweet tooth” pinterest board here

#3 clothes- any of the ones on  my pinterest board. literally, but for all you guys out there that love pictures here are examples

i know christmas is not about gifts and material things- it is about Jesus Birth and celebrating that. Celebrating family and what the word “family” truly means. I have been really struggling with family lately- so say a prayer that the Lord shows up. a lot of sad things happening in my family and i could use your prayers.

Mrs. Estes

Chocolate, White Chocolate Chewy Cookie

i have a procedure i follow when adding recipes into my recipe book i am making. i look online (usually pinterest) find a recipe that looks interesting or the picture makes me hungry- make it- have people taste it- then add it to my recipe journal book.

last night– i added another recipe. at first i was skeptical. i have never made a cookie recipe using cake mix, but this one proved me wrong. lindsay, from pinchofyum.com  thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this recipe. i am going to mix it up next time with some chocolate liquor.

anyways you can find the recipe here. do yourself a favor and make a double batch- you wont regret it.

+ thank you martha stewart for all of your perfectly perfect ideas for us- i have seen these made with plates and candle sticks you can get from the thrift store. all you need is a plate, candlestick, glue and paint! So easy and who doesn’t love something to display cupcakes, cakes, & any other sweet treat on.

Whoa

i am so behind. these last few weeks have been really  busy with the husband and life in general. it is officially cold & i sort of like it. it is time for fires, thinking of camping, soup, chili, big sweaters and all things happy but most of all-  THANKSGIVING & CHRISTMAS.

some friends and i went and saw david ramirez at eddie’s attic– he was amazing and you all should go listen to his music right now and buy every album he has.

we also are only $250 dollars away from meeting our goal for our haiti trip in december. words cannot even express how excited and happy i am about this mission trip. to get away from this world of want and expectation to see a world where their  needs are something we take for granted every day. it is good to get out of your box, out of your comfort zone and do something good. i have been feeling like this for a while now, like everyday i do things and they don’t really matter. i want to do something that matters. there is so much need in the world. everywhere you look there is need. whether it be a shoulder to cry on, people dealing with self-esteem issues, someone who does not have food, someone who does not even own a pair of underwear or wear the same clothes everyday. you do not have to go on  a mission trip to bring change to the world, but i am very happy to be going on one. i know the change we will bring there will  bring just as much change for my own life.

other news: we are so busy with planning the holidays- so many families to visit but so excited to see all of them. say a prayer for my brother who is going through his ranger school right now- i know he is going to make it and we are so proud of him, cannot wait to go to his graduation.

i already have been wrapping presents for cory- we have decided not to do family gifts this year bc we are so busy so just presents between cory & i. we will be gone the week before christmas so it makes it easier. the family and i are going to bring a dish style christmas gathering and just enjoy being with each other. however i love christmas and i love wrapping and here are some really cool wrapping ideas i found on pinterest.

My first Loaf & spinach

Well you guys I did it! I finally made my first bread loaf! Thanks too http://www.thecurvycarrot.com I found the best recipe pinning my heart out on Pinterest. It took a minute but it was very rewarding.
I got up this morning and made rum pancakes with fresh berries & yogurt. Made this wonderful bread loaf, & then for lunch I made a spinach salad with Grilled Chicken, pecans & balsamic vinegar. I feel amazing! After watching this documentary we found on Netflix I don’t want to eat the bread but it’s so tasty! We decided were going to start juicing on Monday. If any of you have any good recipes PLEASE send them my way.

Cinnamon Rolls

YES! I did it. I finally found the perfect Cinnamon Roll recipe here. For a first timer using yeast I was really nervous about them turning out the way I wanted them too, but they impressed me and my family! My husband ate 4, and I took some down the hall to my sister and her family. I was so excited to see their faces after eating a bite of one. So to all of those out there that are still learning the ropes or would like to try a new recipe, this is the one for you. Image
